What we will do
The Lumbar Yoga class will be a combination of explanations and a "modified" yoga practice.
This is not a "physiotherapy for herniated disc" class.
And is not a classic yoga class for back pain (that is usually not good for who has our problem)
It is a slow beginners Vinyasa (flow) yoga class to experience the benefits of yoga, but adjusted for people like us with an herniated disc problem.
This means that will avoid or modify all the poses that can push the hernia further out (even when they don't give us pain!).
And on top of that we will add:
- extra stretching exercises to elongate the muscles that you usually contract (because of the spasms related to your herniated disc problem)
- extra stretching exercises for the spine (Eldoa) and tissue education exercises (McKenzie) to help to contain the disc hernia and to improve mobility.
Program
Introduction – around 20 minutes
- We will start introducing each other and talk about “what to do and what to avoid” in our yoga practice.
- Plus some tips to practice yoga with all kinds of herniated disc and general yoga safety rules.
Modified Practice – around 1 hour
There will be modifications to poses and sequences where needed for our specific situation.
Every class will have a specific focus on different parts of the body.
We will work on things like...
- Learn how to modify Yoga poses and sequences
- "How to sit" and "How to breath"
- Stretching exercises (with particular attention for sciatica)
- Static & safe abs
- Correct posture
- Balance
- Strength
- Hips opening
- Chest opening
- Neck and shoulders release
...and more!
HOW YOU attend the
Lumbar Yoga classes
After taking the Lumbar Yoga class for a couple of months – you can find the recordings here – I thought the best solution is a membership with weekly classes.
In fact...
- Weekly appointment – Having a weekly appointment with the class is the best way for you to keep doing the class: because only with repetition you will find the benefits (just taking one class doesn't do it)
- A group to exercise together – Because we can create a group of people doing this class together: this helps you feel comfortable exercising in an online class and helps me to know you better to help you better
- More convenient for you – It is more convenient for you because the registration is automated and, once registered you will just receive the emails with the links to the class, every week
- Get live class AND recording – You get both the live class and the recording of the class available for an entire week (till the new class)
- Way cheaper! – It is way cheaper than buying the class every week: you save 45%!
- You help keep this going – It helps me to count on a base of clients to keep this project going
That is why I recommend that you choose the Membership option.
If this is your first time, you can try the Lumbar Yoga class for free.
And if you want just attend the single class you can buy the drop-in.
Who have done it says...

Why the "Private Group" class
works so well?
Traditional yoga classes, even in person (not online) have a big issue: they don't take care of your specific needs.
They are made for the "average" participant and you have to "find your way" in the class.
If this is bad in "in person" yoga classes (and it is, in my opinion) it's worse in yoga classes done online.
And I mean those online yoga classes where there is no interaction and you just follow the teacher on screen.
And it definitely cannot work in an online yoga classes for you (and me) with our herniated disc issues.
The Lumbar Yoga classes are done in
"interactive mode" on Zoom.
Not a Zoom "webinar" but a Zoom "meeting" and for a restricted number of participants (no more than 10).
With the Zoom meeting we have these advantages:
- I can see and correct you – I can see you and the other participants and, trust me, add clues for specific participants and generally mold the class on the level and needs of attendees
- You can see and feel others – You "feel" the others doing the class with you and can also see what they are doing and how they are doing. (Don't feel like you want others to see you? Just disable your video)
- Q&A at the end – At the end of the practice, I keep some time for the Q&A: you can ask me and I give you answers. This is a big value of these "private group" classes, because the goal is for me to help you "understand and feel".
Would it be better being physically in the same room? Yes. But considering we are located everywhere in the World, these online classes work.
And with the Zoom meeting "interactive" features (and small group) I think that I can give you the specific training that you need and that I wanted to do.
Let's meet in the Zoom "Private Group" class!
Is this class for you?
I am confident I can advise people who have my same issue (lumbar herniated disc) because I have first-hand experience.
So if you...
- have a lumbar herniated disc(s) problem – those are the most common
- already do yoga even at a very basic level
- or you want to learn how to use yoga to feel better (relax your mind while exercising and balancing your body)
...this class will surely benefit you!
Because I will teach you yoga modifications that are original and based on "first hand" experience of a yoga teacher doing yoga with herniated lumbar discs.
