"Happy Pranayama" class with Daniela Novati

Simple exercises to calm your mind, improve your immune system, digestion, metabolism, bowel movement, while strengthening your abs and elongating your spine.

The class duration is about 50 mins (divided between explanations and practice)

What is Pranayama?

Pranayama means learning specific breathing exercises that will teach you to breath better, with longer breaths that better oxygenate your body.

Too often Pranayama is considered like a "metaphysical" matter, while instead it is a physical practice that brings concrete benefits to the practitioner.

Those exercises help you with neck and shoulder pain, digestion, bowel movement and with the flowing of limpha that helps your immune system work better... and much more!

Moreover, Pranayama helps you train your lower "inner" abs and the pelvic floor that normally we don't use and that are fundamental to support your spine.

What is this class?

This is a breathing class for total beginners and also for whom has already tried Pranayama, but wants to practice in a class to get guidance and check the correctness of the execution.

You will learn exactly what to do, how and why it works, and enjoy the fun of play with your breathing... and with muscles you never use!

Try to have your breakfast after class! It's much better to practice with an empty stomach.

The class is done by Daniela Novati a yoga teacher specialized in Pranayama.

This is the class that will make you love Pranayama! 💖

The solution

I am doing "modified yoga classes" to teach you

  • What yoga poses to do and how
  • What yoga poses to avoid and why
  • How to keep working on the rest of your body even if you have this problem

So you understand how to modify your yoga poses to avoid making your situation worse and, on the contrary, getting your body closer to balance than you are now.

Depending on the attendance, I will do my best to give attendees personalized feedback and answers.

This isn't the only class we can do together to help you with your lumbar disc problem.

In fact, I don't do this practice when I have a lot of pain. In those cases I do more stretching, breathing or other kind of exercises that help with the pain.

And I will be happy to teach them in other classes, if you are interested.

This "modified yoga class" is the first I offer online and it is based on the feedback I have received about what interests most people.

What we will do

The class will be a combination of explanations and a "modified" yoga practice.

This is not a "physiotherapy for herniated disc" class.

It is a slow beginners Vinyasa (flow) yoga class to experience the benefits of yoga, but adjusted for people like us with an herniated disc problem.

This means that will avoid or modify all the poses that can push the hernia further out (even when they don't give us pain!).

And on top of that we will add:

  • extra stretching exercises to elongate the muscles that you usually contract (because of the spasms related to your herniated disc problem)
  • extra stretching exercises for the spine (Eldoa) and tissue education exercises (McKenzie) to help to contain the disc hernia and to improve mobility.

Program

Introduction – 20/25 minutes

  • We will start introducing each other and talk about “what to do and what to avoid” in our yoga practice.
  • Plus some tips to practice yoga with all kinds of herniated disc and general yoga safety rules.

Modified Practice – around 1 hour

There will be modifications to poses and sequences where needed for our specific situation

  • How to sit and how to breath
  • Modified Sun Salutation sequence
  • Warriors and standing poses
  • Balance poses
  • Closing sequences with stretching exercises (with some specific for sciatica), static abs and rebalancing of our nervous system.
  • And... Shavasana 😊.

Why me

My name is Daniela Novati and I am a yoga teacher. My focus is helping people to do "the right yoga for your body and done in the right way".

I love to help beginners to start learning yoga and help them build a strong and correct foundation for their practice.

That is why I discovered Pranayama that is mostly unknown or misunderstood even among skilled yoga practitioners and teachers.

I attended a Pranayama certification (100 hours, 2 months) with two of the recognized expert in the field: Shri O.P. Tiwari and his only certified teacher Paul Dallaghan.

They have opened for me a world of discovery in the secrets of Pranayama and its practical physical benefits.

In a few weeks of daily practice I was able to solve some physical problems I have had for years.

And this is the Pranayama we will do together and you will learn in these classes: clear, practical, actionable Pranayama exercises that will change your body, your health and your life.

Is this class for you?

While I am confident I can advise people who have my same issue (lumbar herniated disc) because I have first-hand experience, I have limited experience with other types of herniated disc.

I have some experience with yoga for cervical herniated discs, but it's partial (I worked with a client who had this issue).

And I have no experience with other types annd positions of herniated discs.

And finally, everybody is different

So, before joining the class, ask yourself if this is for you. And during the class listen to your body!

If you...

  • have a lumbar herniated disc(s) problem – those are the most common
  • already do yoga even at a very basic level
  • or you want to learn how to use yoga to feel better

...this class will surely benefit you.

Because I will teach you yoga modifications that are original and based on "first hand" experience of a yoga teacher doing yoga with herniated lumbar discs.

If you think this is for you, welcome to the class!
